White Wines
Belfontaine
Sauvignon Blanc $12.95/ $155.40
This in our opinion may be one of the best Sauvignon Blanc wines available,
comparable to both Cloudy Bay and Neil Ellis, at 1/3 the cost. The nose is
very expressive of the typical Sauvignon Blanc Grassy notes with underlying
citrus. The colour is light green gold and bright. On the opening taste the
grassiness is evident but as the wine passes over the tongue it explodes
with peaches and apricots. The flavours last for up to a minute and finish
clean and crisp. This bottle will improve after opening if refrigerated for
up to 14 days so is great for wine by the glass or home consumption. Package
is modern and attractive.
Klingenfus
Pinot Gris Reserve- Alsace- 2005 $17.95/$215.40
A classic example of the top wines of Alsace, this producer is highly
recommended by both Robert Parker and the Wine Spectator with scores of 88
to 90 . Deep green gold in colour with a citrus
smoke nose it shows the full character of this underrated grape. A wine
that has huge mouth filling flavours of citrus, Apricot and Mineral and
with a slight smoky overtone this is a wine that is sumptuous and supple
and loved by all when tasted. Rated by many consumers as one of the best
white wines in the world.
Domaine
Ste. Anne- Entre Deux Mers, Haut Benauge, Bordeaux $13.95/$167.40
A classical White Bordeaux Chateau of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this is fully representative
of the great white entre deux mers wines. Complex and fruity it expresses
the grassy nose and start taste and finishes with big white fruit. Less
forward and more complex than the Gemini it is a great White Dinner Wine.
Made 100% organic under the “Ecocert” certification this
produces the cleaner crisper tastes found in the Organic wine movement and
is significantly better that normally produced wines. The White wines of
Chateau Haut Mallet, it is 100% Chateau grown and bottled.
Hoo-Roo Creek
Australian Chardonnay- 2005 $12.95/155.40
A lovely European styled Chardonnay showing citrus, gooseberry and white
fruit in a very lightly oaked format- Very easy drinking with a long fresh
clean aftertaste and no woodiness or oak residue—Has faint vanilla
and butter notes but shows well the great flavours found in Classic
Burgundian Whites. Could easily be judged in a blind tasting as a Meursault
Montecchia Pinot Grigio delle Venezie - 2005 - $11.50/138.40
The most now most popular white wines today, this lovely example offers a
straw yellow note and an intense floral and pear/apple nose, followed by a
velvety texture and flavours of soft white fruit, minerals and a hint of
Almond. A great example of the terroir of Venezia, this wine is a great
accompaniment to cheese, appetizers and seafood dishes. - Attractively
priced for this high end quality level.
Castelo de Medina Rueda Sauvignon Blanc $14.95/179.40
From an area not well known, this Sauvignon Blanc will make the world
famous “ Cloudy
Bay” look to
it’s laurels. Showing a lemon /green Gold colour the nose of this
sleeper opens with the typical grassy note followed by a soft pineapple
persistence- On tasting, the grassy notes appear on the start but vanish is
a burst of peaches, apricots pears and pineapple- The taste persists
for up to a minute with the great fruit and finishes softly with no
bitterness- Outstanding Wine from Spain’s Rueda district.
Cchia
Soave Superiore-2004- Cantine di Montecchia $13.95/$167.40
Ordered Due Dec 15. This is an Outstanding
Soave with notes of Pineapple, butter, peaches and apricots with a long
lingering finsh and a mouth filling texture .
Great value at this price.
Red Wines
Belfontaine
Merlot- Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi. $12.95/$141.60
A traditionally made High end Merlot showing the big red fruit for which
this Grape is famous. Well rounded and mouth filling with laid back tannins
indicating a strong future for at least 4 more years, this is a perfect
accompaniment to any red meat dinner. A slight touch of pepper indicates
the warm mountainous origins of this excellent Midi Vintage and shows how
well this region is making affordable but high quality wines. Upon opening
and breathing the wine improves for up to two weeks so is excellent for
home use or wine by the Glass. Well designed in a premium tall Bordeaux bottle with a
modern packaging and label.
Le Chiantigione Chianti- Tuscany 2005 NEW - en
route
$12.95/$155.40
The most popular Chianti in Italy- great body
structure and finish great at this
price with big notes of sour cherry, raspberry and spicy herbs in a long
clean soft non tannic finish- Described as great value and favourite wine
by Dean Tudor of the Wine
Writers Circle. Equal in quality to a good Classico reserve
Le Chiantigione Sangiovese Toscano IGT 2006
NEW en route
$13.95/167.40
A very good Sangiovese at great price- full bodied with notes of red fruit,
coffee and smoke – top seller in Italy and great replacement for
the more costly Bliss.
Astibarbera Barbera D’Asti
Berengarium-2003
$16.95/203.40
A big classical complex and
mouth filling Barbera that will eclipse many Barolos at a price that is
easy to handle- from the top area of Piedmont
and a well known historic producer. Lots of Sour Cherry and complex tannins
and structure
Labaume
Beaujolais – Ordered – Arrives Oct 5th $15.50/$186.00
Beaujolais in the past was considered to be a light , uncomplex red wine. No Longer- This is a big
fruit forward complex red wine with structure and complexity equal or
better than many of its famed neighbours from Burgundy. The colour is deep clear ruby
red and the nose offers hints of raspberry and strawberry. On the taste the
mouth fills with bright red fruit flavours that last for up to a minute. No
bitterness or heavy tannins are present. In Beaujolais tasting in 2000 this
wine handily defeated many of the Cru wines from Deboeuf, ranking only
behind a Chiroubles Cru and a Beaujolais
Villages, both of
which were more expensive. A perfect wine for a dinner where more complex
wines are not called for.
Labaume
“Croix de St Louis” Pinot Noir, Burgundy – Arrives Oct 5th - $17.95/$215.40
A truly classic example of a good single estate and single Vineyard red Burgundy.
Substantial weight and complexity that clearly illustrate the true Pinot
Noir flavours and greatness. Strong notes of raspberry, red current,
strawberry and leather are present but the wine also shows a complexity
that is developing and will open for another 3 years. Tannins are lightly
present but have significantly mellowed out. From the 4rt oldest Burgundy
producer this is a fine example that stands well above most of
today’s thinner and lighter Burgundies.
Vineyard located in the Cote de Nuits
region
Chateau
Chavragnac-Bordeaux Superior
- Organic $18.25/$219.00
In today’s wine market the one stable factor is Bordeaux. The fame and quality of the
great Classified growth has continued to develop but the best news is that
many of the smaller lesser-known Chateaux are producing wines very close to
the big ones and at affordable prices. This wine is a case in point. It
offers big red fruit flavours in a very user-friendly presentation, but
shows all the complexity and potential of a wine at twice its price. The
taste is complex, mouth filling and long lasting, with a lovely finish.
Part of this can be attributed to the fact it is 100% organic, but the
skill of the winemaker is also evident. Once tasted this wine is always a
repeat product. The customer will thank you for recommending this wine
Domaine
de Dusiegneur Cotes du Rhone Villages
“Laudun” Organic - $18.25/$219.00
A classic Cotes du Rhone this 100% organic wine offers all the
characteristics of the Good Chateauneuf but at 1/3 of the price. Deep
garnet colour and a nose expressing red fruit, the taste is Cherry,
raspberry, plum and overtones of leather and chocolate. An absolutely
classic example of the clean fruit and finish of a good organically
produced product. Tasting panel rated at 92 points
Valdevieso
Single Vineyard Estate Syrah- Chile - $20.60/247.20
A great single Vineyard Estate Wine that shows the maturity of the Wines
from Chile The famous Grape of the Northern Rhone this transplant takes a
back seat to no one- equaling the Shiraz of California and Australia, and
equal to the Great Northern Rhone. The deep garnet colour is enhanced by a
big red fruit nose, and the flavours show Raspberry, strawberry and
provinial Spices with a hint of Garrague. Elegant, complex and fruity this
wine finishes with a long soft note
Valdevieso
Single Vineyard Estate Malbec - $22.45/264.90
The malbec grape got its origins in Bordeaux, where is was used for blending, and South West France where it
produces big dark long lasting tannic wines. It has transplanted
beautifully to South America where it is
now a mainstay of single varietal Wines. The Colour is a deep dark Garnet
and the nose is reminiscent of outdoors and red fruit. On the palate it
show persistent but laid back tannins and a forward fruit structure and
finish. Will age well but drinks very nicely now the a light tannic note,
with a hint of chocolate and leather
Valdevieso
Cabernet Sauvignon- Chile
$11.95/143.40
This entry level Cabernet Sauvignon shows how
far the wines of Chile
have come- This is a classic example of a well made expressive Cabernet
with the hidden tannins, herbal nose and big red and black fruit flavours
with overtones of Leather and tobacco. Lit has a long finish with clean
complex flavours. From elsewhere this wine would be double or triple the
price based on its quality. The house of Valdevieso is one of the top and
oldest producers in Chile
with a well deserved reputation for outstanding wines- Well regarded by the
World Wine reviewers.
Blisss
Giallo Maremma Sangiovese – Tuscany
– Private Order Only - $16.50/198.00
A new “Super Tuscan” A new region
only recently recognized by the wine world, Maremma is located only 15 K
from Brunello and shares the same quality and soils without the high price
premium- Formerly producing for other contract buyers this winery has now
branched out on its own. Bright deep ruby red with purple nuances and an
elegant bouquet of red fruit and long persistence on the nose. Remarkable
fruit with plenty of Cherries and scent s of Violets. Well balanced, smooth
with great body and supple tannins. Called the Super Tuscan Kiss. A star
from the newly created Montecucco DOC region.
Bodegas
Felix Callejo- Ribero del Douro- Barrique – 2004 $17.95/215.40
A deep garnet red colour is followed by a nose
of rd fruit, leather and spices from this Crianza level (aged 1 year in
Oak) Wine of the Ribero del Douro. This region is equal to or better than
the other great Spanish areas of the Rioja and Priorat and in my opinion
has no equal in the world- The property adjoins “Vega Sicilia”
ranked as one of the Worlds Greatest Wines and is in the same quality
level. Outstanding Chocolate, red fruit, cherries with spices and complex
overtones for the serious consumer- Top ranked with a score level of 90 pts

*Charvin
Cotes du Rhone - 2003 - $21.95/263.40
Ranked by Robert Parker in the Wine advocate issue138 at 92 points this
wine is absolutely outstanding. Finding a Chateauneuf at over 90 points is wonderful . To find a Cote du Rhone
at this level is unbelievable, and particularly at this price level.
Largely unknown , Laurent Charvin is cherished by collectors worldwide but
kept a jealously guarded secret until now this is the first and only wine
he has released to Canada. Charvin was also chosen by Parker as number 1 in
his Men of the year. His revue reads “from 35 year old vines of
Grenache, Syrah & Carignan it is a sensual, sexy, dense ruby/purple
colored effort revealing a creamy texture, gorgeous levels of licorice,
black cherry/ blackberry fruit, loads of Glycerin (14% Alc) and an
authentic taste- drink over the next 4-5 years but it will keep
longer”
Charvin
Chateauneuf du Pape - 2004/5 - Limited en route $49.00/588.00
Rated by Robert Parker at 95 points this wine needs no explanation or
comment- simply huge, outstanding and rare.
Burlotto
“Neirene” Barolo- 2000 re- ordered- (Vintages) $59.95/$719.40
A truly classic Barolo from one of Piedemonte small but highest regarded
producers. The house of Burlotto is ranked by the Italian Government (who do not normally judge Wines) as one of the three top
Houses producing Barolo. This is the only wine that was taken by the Duke
of Asti on his Polar expedition. It has huge red fruit constituents with
long lasting clean flavours so sought after in the Nebbiola grape but so
seldom found. A mouth filling giant of a wine at a very reasonable price
for a great Barolo.
Spirits
Juniper Green Organic
London dry Gin $32.95/$395.40
This is without any doubt the best Gin in the world today, At a recent
“Feast of the Fields” the over 200 tasters were unanimous in this
opinion, and these included every major chef present from Southern
Ontario. It is fragrant with Juniper Berries Angelica and
other herbs and has a clean dry finish with huge flavours and no burn or
bitter aftertaste. So smooth it can be drunk straight ,
but incredible in mixed drinks.
Ikon Russian Vodka $29.95
This is a top rated crisp pure
Russian vodka- Chosen by Virgin Records,
Playgirl Magazine and other top sites as preferred or sponsored Vodka for
all their functions. Super premium quality at mid level price

Domaine de Marcoux-
Chateauneuf du Pape- 1998 $125.00/$1500.00
This Domaine is farmed Biodynamically, which means the not only is it
organically produced but also uses astronomy to guide the picking dates.
While perhaps odd the result cannot be denied as this house is ranked and
one of the two greatest Chateauneuf producers, and is a favourite of Robert
Parker. I quote from his review of 10/28/00 in Vol.131 of the Wine
Advocate.” The 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape’s peppery, plum, cherry
liqueur, and cassis scented nose is followed by opulent, long, open knit
flavours crammed with glycerin and alcohol. The high levels of Richness and
Glycerin obscure much of the wines structure and tannin. This sexy
voluptuously-textured creamy s1998 should drink gorgeously for 10-15+

St Emilion Grand Cru Classe- 1988 $150.00/$1800.00
A truly wonderful example of a top St. Emilion Chateau this Merlot based
wine from the world famous Jacques Cap-de-Mourlin exhibits all that is
wonderful about the wines of this region. Black cherry, raspberry and
cassis is overlain by chocolate and leather with a
faint touch of spice. This Vintage was well regarded for St Emilion and is
just now reaching towards its peak, although another 20 years are possible.
Due to the high level, wines from 1988 are almost impossible to find now
and these may be the last commercially available in the world outside of
auctions. Normally retailed for over $150.00 when released, this is a
