Domaine de Marcoux- Chateauneuf du Pape- 1998 = = = $115.00/$1380.00

This Domaine is farmed Biodynamically, which means th= e not only is it organically produced but also uses astronomy to guide the picking dates. While perhaps odd the result cannot be denied as this house is ranked and one of the two greatest Chateauneuf producers, and is a favourite of Ro= bert Parker. I quote from his review of 10/28/00 in Vol.131 of the Wine Advocate= .” The 1998 Chateauneuf du= Pape’s peppery, plum, cherry liqueur, and cassis scented nose is followed by opule= nt, long, open knit flavours crammed with glycerin and alcohol. The high levels= of Richness and Glycerin obscure much of the <= /span>wines structure and tann= in. This sexy voluptuously-textured creamy s1998 should drink gorgeously for 10= -15+ years&= #8221; (score 93). Very limited availability. Now selling at auction for $200.00+ in the US

Considered by Parker to be a best value this is an elegant well-structured wine lying between the older heavier styles and the lighter more modern type. Parker <= span class=3DGramE>quote ”It is a long rich fat effort with plenty of Provencal spice intermixed with Ch= erry liqueur, pepper, and olives. Long and pure with medium to full body, low acidity, and a succulent texture, it is a hedonistic Chateauneuf du Pape to drink over the next decade” Limited stocks left. Score 88

Domaine de Charbonniere- Cuvee Mourre de Perdrix-1998 = $75.= 00/$900.00

Again to quote Parker-“the 1998 Mourre de Perdrix is a firmer, more tannic effort offering scents of p= ine trees, balsam wood, resin, and black cherry and berry fruit. Earthy and firm with moderate tannin it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and should keep for 14+ years. Due to the very high quality of the= 1998 Vintage wines from this vintage are becoming costly and hard to find. Limited stock. Parker score 92

Very small quantities available. Rar= e and lovely with huge fruit, Provencal spices and herbs with bigger fruit and layering than the Traditional and Mourre de Perdrix. Score 96

Chateau Cap-de-Mourlin- St Emilion Grand Cru Classe- = 1988 &= nbsp; $150.00/$1800.00

A truly wonderful example of a top St. Emilion Chateau this Merlot based wines from the world famous Jacques Cap-de-Mourlin exhibits all that is wonderful about the wines of this region. Black che= rry, raspberry and cassis is overlain by chocolate and leather with a faint touch of spice. This Vintage was well regarded for St Emilion and is just now reaching towards its peak, although another 20 years are possible. Due to the high level, wines from 1988 are almost impossible to find now and these may be the last commercially available in = the world outside of auctions. Normally retailed for over $150.00 when released, this is a collector’s bargain
